Arexvy, our RSV vaccine for older adults, has been granted approval from the US FDA on May 3, 2023. This is the first RSV vaccine for older adults to be approved anywhere in the world. The press release is available here.
This approval is the result of a decades-long scientific quest to reduce the potentially devastating impact of RSV disease and help protect older adults, especially those with underlying conditions like diabetes, lung disease, and heart disease. RSV can have devastating consequences for older adults, causing many thousands of hospitalisations and deaths each year. The availability of a vaccine that has shown exceptional efficacy in these populations will have a significant positive public health impact and further strengthen GSK’s industry-leading vaccines portfolio.
