Obesity with Cardio Vascular Disease Study

What is Obesity with Cardio Vascular Disease?

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally and is a major contributor to the global burden of chronic disease. Obesity and overweight pose a major risk for serious chronic diseases, including but not limited to type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, obstructive sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, stroke, chronic kidney disease and certain forms of cancer. Lifestyle intervention in the form of diet and exercise is first line treatment for obesity, but most people struggle to achieve and maintain their diet-induced weight loss long-term.

This Phase III trial investigates the effect of a once weekly treatment verses a placebo on standard cardiovascular risk reduction, a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity in participants with obesity with at least one weight related co-morbidity or risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
